Sacred Heart Cathedral is looking for a full-time employee to run its Bookshop located at the Sacred Heart Parish Centre. Interested parishioner is invited to apply by completing application form and submitting same together with your resume and passport size photo to the Parish Office, We are looking for a computer-literate person with accounting background. Individual with experience working in similar background would be preferred. Closing date is Saturday, 30th January 2010. BINS for Donations

Parishioners are kindly reminded to place donations of above items PROPERLY at their respective bins at the SHC Compound.
  1. Used newspapers, books, magazines and other paper products are to be placed at the Wooden Recycling Bins at the basement car park.
  2. Aluminium or tin products such as cans are to be dropped at the Yellow Recycle Bin next to the staircase facing the Rectory (priests’ residence).
  3. Usable Clothing (including shoes, bags or household items) are to be deposited at the Wire-mesh Receptacle at he Rectory. Please give items that are still of use.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM THROWING PLASTIC BOTTLES OR NON-USABLE ITEMS INTO THESE BINS.

[PFPN Concurrent Session]

Key areas that need attention are:

  • Better understanding of the roles and functions of PFPN;
  • Enhance bonding of the 3 PPP;
  • Analysis to look into PFPN strength and weaknesses;
  • Devise methods to identify committed and dedicated olunteers to serve as PFPN Core Team, Zone and Taman Coordinators;
  • Quickly address the shortages of Taman Coordinators;
  • Ease of access to Church groups/ministries and to Priests;
  • Firm up on the figure of the number of families in the Parish.

Family Issues/PFPN Joint- Session

  • Build up PFPN first – bonding among its leaders;
  • Zone & Taman Leaders to be well informed on key Family issues & trained;
  • Build relationship with families through regular visits;
  • Improve coordination among Church groups.

Closing Address

  • Appeal to give chance for PFPN to work & facilitate 2 of the 3 PPPs;
  • Concerted effort from everyone;
  • Work together so that we would feel as part and parcel of PFPN & would not feel threatened by it.

Resolutions & Conclusions

  • All PDW 2009 delegates to commit and be agents of change;
  • To disseminate/communicate PDW 2009 Resolutions to respective groups’ members;
  • Quarterly review of the recommendations of 3 PPP concurrent sessions.

PDW 2009 ended successfully with great promise of renewed vigor to deal with and resolve to their conclusions the three Parish Pastoral Priorities, namely, Faith Formation, Family Issues and Parish Family Pastoral Network (PFPN).

 
Recitation of the Holy Rosary

The Para-Liturgical group has decided and our Rector concurs that beginning 1st January 2010 henceforth, the Holy Rosary will be recited before any Eucharistic Celebration.

Kindly note therefore that for the daily morning Mass at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Sacred Heart Cathedral (Monday to Saturday), recitation of the Holy Rosary shall then begin at 5.30am.

Sales at SHC and CMI Compound

The Parish Pastoral Council has set up a Sales Committee to vet and oversee all sales of appropriate goods or merchandises within the Church compound.

Beginning 1st January 2010 any group or parishioner wishing to conduct any form of sales activitiy at SHC and CMI is required to first fill up a form to be submited to this Committee. The Committee will  meet on the 1st week of every month to deliberate on all submitted applications. The forms are available at the Parish/Sub-Parish Offices during office hours.

The Montfort Youth Training Centre has the following vacant positions:

  1. Student Affairs Officers based in Montfort Kinarut Boys Campus
  2. Nurse based in Montfort Kinarut Boys Campus
  3. Female Cook based in Montfort Donggongon Girls Campus

Requirements:

  1. Interested candidates for positions (1) must have the interest to work with youth-dynamic & energetic young men preferrably who have the ability to organize and run residential programmes and willing to participate in trainees’ daily outdoor activities. Proficiency in English and in IT are required for writing reports. Required to work shifts.
  2. Interested candidates for position (2) must have the relevant nursing experience. Working hours are from 7.00am to 1.30pm, Mondays to Fridays.
  3. Interested candidates for position (3) mush have the relevant experience in planning meals, marketing and cooking for institutions.

2nd Sunday of Lent

Introduction:In this week’s Gospel Reading through the parable Jesus tells he puts a premium on fruitfulness. He does this first by stressing the vineyard owner’s severe judgment of the fig tree that has continued to bear no figs. The vineyard owner is ready to remove the fig tree because it is totally unproductive. Secondly, he focuses on the importance of being fruitful by underscoring the vinedresser’s unusual concern and attention to try and insure the fig tree’s future productivity. Both in the vineyard owner’s judgment and the vinedresser’s care, one message comes through loud and clear; fruitfulness is essential.
